Advertising campaign to promote Intel ultrabukov become the largest advertising campaign Intel

Рекламная кампания Intel по продвижению ультрабуков станет крупнейшей рекламной кампанией IntelAdvertising campaign to promote Intel ultrabukov, which began in the spring of this year, Qty, will become the largest advertising campaign with the Intel 2003, according to iXBT.com
The exact amount of which the largest manufacturer of microprocessors in the world, last year proposed the concept of the market thin and light mobile computers, intends to spend to convince consumers desire to buy ultrabuki is unknown.
But we know that exercise is aimed at the package of measures launched in April.
Last time scale comparable Intel campaign was conducted in 2003, when promoted Centrino platform for laptops with Wi-Fi.
Recall last spring, the company Intel has promised to "reinvent" and predicted computers would look like "laptop of the future." The company then began negotiations with Acer, Asustek, Lenovo and Samsung to release a completely new light notebook PCs with touch screens, characterized by long battery life and quick start-up.
These laptops are designed to compete with a line of laptops Apple MacBook Air, have to work all day on one battery charge - without sacrificing computing performance and at a constant Internet connection.
In the summer of 2011, this concept is called the Ultrabook, and this fall, Acer, Asus, Lenovo and Toshiba have released the first ultrabuki. Intel is actively promoting its vision by providing $ 300 million to be invested in companies developing new technology.
Processor giant expects to end 2012 ultrabuki can occupy up to 40% of notebook market. According to Intel, on the way to the market is already about 75 models. About half of them were able to see visitors to the exhibition CES, held this week in Las Vegas.

Toshiba unveils world’s thinnest tablet

Toshiba has unveiled the world’s thinnest, 10-inch Android Tablet.
With its burnished, magnesium alloy back, gorilla-glass face and unique channel trim, the company‘s latest tablet entry stands apart from the pack, Mashable com reported.
It is, for now, said to be the thinnest tablet, besting the slim iPad by .04 inches. It’s also a tad lighter. The iPad 2 weighs 1.35 pounds and the Excite is just 1.2 lbs.
But the number of buttons and ports Toshiba squeezed onto this tiny frame is thought to be more surprising.
Buttons are hidden along the edge in a channel that runs the full perimeter of the device.
Like the iPad 2, the Excite packs two cameras: 2 megapixels on the front and 5 megapixels on the back. Its 10.1-inch screen supports a 1280 x 800 resolution and sports an anti-smudge coating on its surface.

Eurocom Racer: Radeon HD 6990M In A Truly Mobile Form Factor

Sporting awesome gaming performance and low power draw, the only thing missing from our previous Radeon HD 6990M benchmarks was an efficient, portable package. Eurocom addresses that with its mid-sized Racer. But can the smaller notebook keep pace?
We grow weary of choosing between super-heavy performance notebooks and wimpy business-oriented laptops. AMD recently pushed out its Radeon HD 6990M, which drops the Mobility designator in an unfortunate move that makes it more likely to confuse customers who can't imagine there could be much difference between a desktop Radeon HD 6990 and a mobile Radeon HD 6990M.
Despite the horrible naming that both AMD and Nvidia continue employing, the 6990M really did impress us in GeForce GTX 580M SLI Vs. Radeon HD 6990M CrossFire by demonstrating remarkable performance and efficiency.
A flurry of testing on our end revealed that the second module wasn’t even really needed in most 1080p gaming scenarios. And the low power consumption of a single 6990M module lead us to guess that it'd be a truly potent solution in a more portable package. Eurocom listened and sent us an example of the form factor we really wanted to see.

Nintendo plans improved app store for Wii U

wii-u-controllerUnless you go through the ’80s-style “becoming super cool” montage, the other app stores won’t respect you. Nintendo seems to be in this mindset, as a source has stated that it’s creating an app store for its upcoming Wii U controller that goes “far beyond” the online stores the company currently provides for its DSi and Wii consoles. According to The Daily, the new gaming system, which is set to launch in the second half of 2012, will be able to use apps that operate on the controller itself, much like iOS and Android-based tablets. In other news, Nintendo has also vowed to buy each of its employees a cheetahwith the Wii U app store profits.

Phenom II X6 and DDR3-2000: It's Working!

AMD users may find themselves somewhat disappointed with the recent announcements from the makers of overclocker-friendly memory modules and they have a reason to feel that way. There are DDR3 DIMMs now available with a rated frequency of over 2500 MHz but such high clock rates cannot be enabled on the Socket AM3 platform. As we found out in a recent review, it is quite hard even to start a modern Phenom II X6 up together with DDR3-2000. Thus, the majority of high-speed DDR3 modules offered today are only limited to LGA1156 and LGA1366 platforms and cannot show their best with AMD processors.
AMD claims that a proper combination of a processor, mainboard and memory is required to make DDR3-2000 work on the Socket AM3 platform but in our experiments we couldn’t find that combination even though we used a mainboard capable of supporting DDR3-2000 and a flagship CPU model. None of the overclocker-friendly memory modules rated for 2000 or even 2133 MHz would work as DDR3-2000 on our Socket AM3 testbed then. The highest memory frequency the system remained stable at was about 1900 MHz.

Nvidia's Next-Gen Kepler Graphics Chips to Support DirectX 11.1.

Nvidia Geforce 28nm KeplerNvidia Corp.'s next-generation Kepler architecture for graphics processing units (GPUs) and compute accelerators promises a lot with its new levels of performance and new set of DirectX 11.1 capabilities. However, it will take Nvidia almost a year to fully roll-out the Kepler family, according to a newly published information.
In a bid to avoid a situation with massive delay of the new family, Nvidia will start with introduction of relatively simplistic products, code-named GK107 and GK106, according to information published by 4Gamer.net web-site. Although the GK107 (128-bit memory) will support DirectX 11.1, unlike the GK106 (256-bit memory bus) it will not feature PCI Express 3.0. The more powerful GK104 will feature PCIe 3.0 and 384-bit bus, whereas the GK110 is projected to carry two of such chips. Both GK104 and GK110 will be available later than the less advanced parts. The most advanced Kepler-family chip will be code-named GK112. The product is projected to feature 512-bit memory bus. The flagship single chip solution will be the last in the Kepler 1.0 family and will be presumably released towards the end of 2012.

QNAP TS-419P II NAS Review

The TS-419P II is shipped in a nice-looking and robust box. There is a lot of information on the packaging: photos of the product, its technical specs, usage scenarios, etc. The accessories are standard and include an external 12V/10A power adapter with cord, two Ethernet cables, mounting screws for HDDs, a brief installation guide and a CD with software and user manuals. HDDs are not included. The external 120-watt power adapter is large and heavy. I don't think that modern HDDs can consume up to 30 watts to make it necessary, but the manufacturer may know something about upcoming high-capacity HDDs that I do not.The included CD contains electronic user manuals, the QFinder tool for searching for and setting the NAS up, QGet for managing downloads, and a simple backup tool called QNAP NetBack Replication. The first two utilities are available for both Windows and Mac OS X. You can find latest updates for the software and documentation at the manufacturer's website.
