Palit GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores

Palit’s new GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores comes in a large cardboard box with a Battlefield 3 picture on its front. However, the game itself is not included into the box as is explained in the small print. In other words, the Battlefield 3 picture and title are just a marketing trick. The product's accessories are scanty including but a single DVI->D-Sub adapter, a power cable (one 6-pin-> two PATA connectors), a CD with drivers and an installation guide. The card is manufactured in China and costs about $280 in retail shops.

The Palit GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores looks attractive with its cooler’s stylish plastic casing that borrows some elements from Battlefield 3, too. The reverse side of the PCB is open. The card measures 228 x 112 x 45 millimeters. It weighs no more than 1 kilo. A gorgeous selection of connectors is offered: two dual-link DVI ports, one HDMI version 1.4a and one DisplayPort. The GeForce GTX 560 Ti 448 Cores is closer to the GTX 560 Ti rather than to the GTX 570 in its PCB design. The PCB is shorter and simpler, at least in Palit’s implementation, than the GTX 570's. The power system follows the 4+1 formula with 4 phases for the GPU and 1 phase for the graphics memory.

HP says the project will simplify data centers for companies operating thousands of servers, by using up to 94 percent less space than traditional server systems, while reducing costs by up to 63 percent.
The company says the project will promote industry collaboration to accelerate the development of “hyperscale” computing environments, including cloud services and on-demand computing. Companies using this kind of computing are facing a crisis in capacity, requiring a fundamental structural change, according to Paul Santeler, vice president and general manager of the hyperscale business unit in HP’s Industry Standard Servers and Software division.

Google Zetigest reveals top searches of 2011

Google revealed Thursday its 11th annual Zeitgeist – the people, places, culture, and most-searched terms that shaped 2011, The Daily Mail reported.
In the US, Rebecca Black- the teenager whose catchy hit Friday garnered millions of hits, late night talk show appearances, and even a record deal - was the most popular search of 2011.
Surprisingly, American Armenian popular reality star Kim Kardashian didn’t rank in the top ten searches in the US, though the reality TV star whose marriage to Kris Humphries lasted a brief 72 days.
She reportedly placed second in the top celebrity search ranking.
The remainder of the top ten searches reflected a mix of current events, technology, and entertainment – Google’s answer to social networking behemoth Facebook Google+ came in second.
Apple was big in the top ten fastest rising searches, with not one but three searches, including iPhone 5, Steve Jobs, and iPad2.
More than 5.8million people lost electricity, while flooding destroyed roadways and homes of thousands.
Casey Anthony, the 25-year-old Florida woman charged – and later acquitted – of murdering her two-year-old daughter Caylee, was the seventh most popular.
Searches for ‘Casey Anthony’ and related searches like ‘Casey Anthony Case’ grew 2,680 per cent from 2010 to 2011, according to Google.
On a lighter note, the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton was one of the most popular wedding searches of the year, as was the Kardashian wedding.
According to Zeitgeist, Japan was a trending topic in nearly every country – no doubt because of the crippling earthquake and tsunami that struck in March.
The Google zeitgeist list - meaning spirit of the times - is compiled from the searches through Google each year. Individual searchers are not identified.|
Google hosts a year-round Zeitgeist page that lets users monitor search terms' popularity over time.

Astronomers detect first Earth-size planets orbiting another star

In a milestone hailed by scientists as a key step toward finding another Earth-like world, astronomers Tuesday announced the discovery of two blazingly hot planets roughly the size of Earth some 950 light years distant, The Washington Post reported.
The discovery “demonstrates for first time that Earth-size planets exist around other stars, and that we can detect them,” said Francois Fressin, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics who led the discovery team.
The two planets orbit a star much like our sun, but they whiz around it so fast and so close that their surfaces sizzle like frying pans.
"They’re way too hot to be anything like our own Earth," said Sara Seager, a planet hunter at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a member of the discovery team.
The implication: No life — at least life as we can conceive it — is possible on the new planets.
Still, finding these hot Earth-sized planets is "seriously cool," said Lisa Kaltenegger, who studies so-called exoplanets at the Max Planck Institute in Heidelberg, Germany, and was not involved in the research. “These discoveries are a great technological step forward.”

Record labels criticise Google over illegal downloads

Google has failed to deliver on promises to tackle illegal file-sharing, according to an organisation which represents music labels around the world, BBC News reported.
The IFPI said guarantees Google had made about copyright infringement 12 months ago "remained unfulfilled".
It conceded that the search engine had made "modest steps", but alleged it was profiting from piracy.
In response, Google declined to comment on what it called a "press stunt".
In the report, the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) accused Google of making money from "sites and applications that engage in piracy".
It said, as the world's biggest search engine, it had a "special responsibility" to protect copyrighted music.
It said some work had been done but that more action had to be taken if Google "is not to continue to be abused as a vehicle for piracy."
"Google also needs to do more to ensure that it does not derive revenue from illegal activity and supports the digital marketplace in which it itself is a participant," it added.

Its unibody Injection molded polycarbonate exoskeleton, identical to a identical tiwn Lumia 800, N9, is not usually showstopper, though a bound rock. It’s winding black potion AMOLED arrangement is pure and demeanour identical to functions of art constructed in Prague in a important crystal. Floating in a H2O to uncover us a apparition of a physique during a tip of a aspect during a top.
